The astonishing pigment, powerful metallic foil finish and cream-to-powder texture were just a few features which captured my attention to try the Stila Magnificent Metals Foil Finish Eye Shadows.
At a costly $32 / £33.50 each on the Stila website, I convinced myself to press check-out (mainly because they are just so beautiful) and ordered not one, but 3 colours out of the 12 available. I chose Metallic Jade, Titanium & Metallic Laurel (left to right) as I felt these colours will work best for me and compliment my brown eyes.
Along with the eye shadows came a mixing tray and the stay all day liquid eye shadow primer which according to Stila (2016) preps the lids with a unique liquid formula that creates long-lasting adhesion to lids. Personally, I have only tested these additional items once and felt that it is (In the make-up world) time consuming and chaotic.
My technique to apply these eye shadows is as follows:
- Using my Urban Decay eye shadow brush, I gently apply pressure into the eye shadow pot about 3 or 4 times to ensure I have plenty of product on the brush.
- I then work in sections to dab/pat the product on to my eyelids.
- If at this point I feel that my eyes need more colour I will repeat step 1 & 2 until I am happy and content with the final look/intensity.
What I love about these eye shadows is that they are easy to work with and very buildable so depending on the look you are trying to achieve your eyes can be as sheer or as striking as you’d like them to be.
Quick Tip: On certain occasions such as weddings or parties, once the final look is complete, I will wet the brush and go in one last time with the eye shadow just to intensify the colour and make it pop.
