First Impression: Smashbox Full Exposure Travel Palette

Once again Smashbox has enticed me into trying yet another one of their products, through their latest email blast on current products on offer. You may already be aware that I had fallen into this trap a few months back where I picked up 4 of their gorgeous lip and cheek pencils for half price! You can see my review and swatches here.

So back to business, I am always in awe when I walk past the Smashbox counter at my local boots store, this palette just screams hello, so I was ever so excited when I saw that a travel size option was available for approx. £8. I have used it a couple of times now and am ready to share my thoughts. Does it live up to my expectations? Read on to find out.

According to Smashbox the full exposure travel size palette was created because the professionals at Smashbox Studios needed it. On set, they’ve seen every skin tone and eye shape imaginable, so they wanted a super universal, straightforward palette that works on anyone, anywhere—from big-deal photo shoots to behind-the-scenes Instagram selfies.

The palette has been narrowed down to 8 universal neutral shades. From nudes to blacks, these crease-resistant, long-wear shimmers and velvety smooth mattes are organized with shimmers on top and mattes on the bottom so that they are easy to use.

My thoughts…

  • The eye shadows are easy to apply (And blend!)
  • The palettes contain a beautiful colour range
  • The quality is average – I personally love the Urban Decay Palettes
  • The shades are beautiful and can be used from day to night to create a variety of looks
  • The packaging is adorable and lives up to its travel size purpose
  • Given the price of the full size item, I do not believe it is value for money

When swatching this palette, I found I had to dip into each eye shadow around 4-5 times for the product to show up on my arm. The 1st four shimmery shades were easier than the last 4 matte shades. As you can see the last 3 colours haven’t really shown up.

Overall, given the price of the full palette and the brand perception of Smashbox, I feel that this product does not meet my expectations.

Have your tried this? What are your thoughts? Leave me a comment in the comments section below…

See you all soon with an upcoming Christmas Competition! Xo
